Uniform Scholarship Programme
Department of Nursing and Midwifery
The uniform scholarship programme for nursing undergraduates was started for the first time in
the history, in 2023, in line with the oath-taking ceremony of batch 17 (2020/2021). The Leo
club, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, donated the full uniform sets for the selected six (06)
students of the above batch from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery on 19 th December
2023. In addition to that, Alumni of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery donated Rs.
100,000.00 (Hundred Thousand Sri Lankan Rupees) for the welfare of nursing undergraduates.
There were seventeen nursing undergraduates from batch 17 (2020/2021) selected for this
financial assistance programme. Among them, four (04) students (A male and 3 females) were
selected for the financial assistance under the “severe financial issues” criteria, and they were
provided full financial assistance for their uniforms he remaining thirteen (13) students received
Rs. 5,000.00 each as financial support for their uniforms.
The event was graced by Prof. D.I. Uluwaduge, the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health
Sciences, Dr. M.R.S. Jayathilake ;the Head of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery,
academic staff of the department, and representatives of the Leo Club.
