Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was pioneering in preparing nursing graduates in conventional universities, Sri Lanka. Again it made an inspiring history as a pioneered in preparing the first three Professors in Sri Lankan Nursing Service up to that level.

- Sudath Warnakulasuriya promoted as a professor in December 2019 from University of Colombo. He was a senior lecturer, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura from 2006 – 2018.
- Thamara Amarasekara, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She was promoted as a professor from December 2019.
- Lalitha Meegoda, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She was promoted as a professor from October 2022.
