The Department was established to lay a solid foundation to the study programs of the faculty of Allied Health Sciences by providing knowledge and skills in basic sciences subjects.
It imparts knowledge on the Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry of the human body and chemistry and physics of materials. Further the department aims to develop lifelong learning and social skills in undergraduates necessary for subsequent years of B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, B.Sc. Nursing, B.Pharm and B.Sc. Optometry study programs as well as to graduate as competent and socially responsible health professionals.
