The Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, hosted a full day workshop on ‘Medication Safety for Pharmacists’ on 26th February 2019 at the department premises. Pharmacists, as healthcare professionals need to be continuously educated on new developments in healthcare which is a very dynamic discipline. Although there are educational workshops organized from different organizations from time to time, a continuous workshop series has not been introduced yet. We launched this continuous professional development program with the intention of disseminating and sharing new developments in pharmacy and also to inculcate essential core concepts in pharmacy among new entrants to the pharmacy profession.
The workshop was fully resourced by Senior Lecturers of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with the exception of an invited guested lecture delivered by Dr. S. Sridharan, Deputy Director General (Planning), Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka.
