Invention and Innovation Exhibition 2019 – Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, FMS, USJ

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) presented their inventions at the Invention and Innovation Exhibition organized by the Council for Innovations (Innovation, Intervention and Venture Creation Council, aka IIVCC), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, on 2nd and 3rd April 2019 at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, BMICH, Colombo. “AHS innovations” was represented by three disciplines of allied health sciences, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. It was a very successful event to the newly established FAHS to showcase their new and innovative research in the fields of drug discovery, new dosage form development, nursing, and medical laboratory sciences.

The past and present pharmacy students shared their knowledge on innovative herbal dosage forms, new drug discoveries, and also a novel method in tablet manufacturing using locally available plant material. The two day exhibition was much appreciated by the public and enthusiastically urged the development of more herbal formulations for the betterment of healthcare in Sri Lanka. A new innovative biochemical method for screening of plasma in various pathological conditions was presented by students from Medical Laboratory Sciences. Nursing students displayed and explained on innovative nursing skills. Many students from schools all over the country visited the exhibition and gained knowledge about the AHS program offered by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
