The Staff Development Committee (SDC) of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences organized a workshop on abstract writing for academic members of the Faculty. This was one of many other events organized by the SDC to develop staff members of FAHS. This half day workshop was held on 6th April 2021 and was resourced by Dr. Anuruddha M. Anyeyagnasekara, Consultant Urlogic surgeon, and former editor of the Ceylon Medical Journal (CMJ). One aim of this effort was to encourage publishing among young academics by training them on writing an effective scientific abstract. Dr. Abeygunasekera also explained strengths and weaknesses of abstracts, and many of his experiences as an editor of CMJ, which was useful for the participants in both correctly writing and reviewing abstracts in the future. Around 30 academic members participated.
