
Pharmacists are key healthcare professionals responsible for good health and wellbeing of Sri Lankan people. Recently, Dr. H M D R Herath, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, FAHS, USJ was invited to share her expertise in pharmacy education among government pharmacists in Sri Lanka, where she spoke on “Continuing Professional Development in Community and Hospital Pharmacy Practice”. This was the inaugural lecture of a one-week lecture series organized by the Society for Government Pharmacists, Sri Lanka, to mark the World Pharmacists day 2021, and was conducted virtually on 22nd September 2021. In her speech, Dr. Herath highlighted the importance of
continuous professional development for pharmacists, opportunities available (nationally and internationally) for professional development activities in pharmacy practice, and how to engage in such activities. This is one of the many efforts by FAHS academics to develop pharmacists, a key group of healthcare professionals in Sri Lanka.
