FAHS support to strengthen opportunities in quality education to our nation

Dr. MKDL Meegoda, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Science, USJ is actively involved in increasing opportunities in quality nursing education in Sri Lanka through the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA-SL). Recently, she served as a member of the team which is working to develop the curriculum for Dental Nurses’ Management Assistants, with an aim of upgrading the curriculum to NVQ level 5 & 6 in collaboration with the Ministry of Skills Development & Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission. This was initiated by the Career Guidance and Skills Development (CG&SD) Committee of the OPA.

Dr. Meegoda also extends her interest in enabling quality education to school children and served as a member of the team who met Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawarathne, the Director General, National Institute of Education (NIE) to discuss how online education can be conducted effectively to school children during the COVID-19 pandemic and how education reforms can be initiated to achieve job market expectations. The meeting was conducted by the CG&SD committee and Education committee of OPA on 4th March 2021.
