Implementing the national strategic framework for palliative care development in Sri Lanka, the proposed Diploma in Palliative Care programme was initiated at the Post Basic College of Nursing, of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka on 8 th October 2022 to foster and strengthen human resource in providing palliative care at the grassroot level. Dr. M.K.D.L Meegoda, Head of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery attended the discussions at the preparation stage and helped in preparing the curriculum of this diploma course. Further, she conducted the lecture on “Introduction to palliative care” to the first batch of palliative care nurses at the Post Basic College of Nursing.
