

The ceremony for the President’s Award for Scientific Research was held on 6th April 2021, virtually. The top 100 scientific publications published in 2018 in Sri Lanka based on their SCImago Journal Ranking was eligible for this award. At the award ceremony two academics from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences received this prestigious honour.
Ms. L.G.T Shanika, currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and pursuing her PhD in the University of Otago in New Zealand received the President’s Award for the paper titled, ‘Ward-based clinical pharmacists and hospital readmission: a non-randomized controlled trial in Sri Lanka.’ authored by LGT Shanika, S Jayamanne, N Wijekoon, J Coombes, D Perera, F Mohamed, I Coombes, H A De Silva, A H Dawson and published in the, Bulletin of the World Health Organization 2018; Volume 96, Number 3; 155–164.
Dr. Ranga Dissanayake who is also a senior lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences received the President’s Award for the paper titled ‘Drug-loaded halloysite nanotube-reinforced electrospun alginate-based nanofibrous scaffolds with sustained antimicrobial protection’, authored by RT De Silva, RK Dissanayake, MMMGG Mantilaka, WPSL Wijesinghe, SS Kaleel, TN Premachandra, L Weerasinghe, GAJ Amaratunga, and KMN de Silva’ and published in the, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces; 2018, Vol 10, 33913 – 33922.
